Makerbot Abs Housing

MakerBot high temperature polymers

MakerBot ABS-R

The option to manufacture ABS parts in an UltiMaker Method X printer allows for the on-site production of elements that were previously only possible using an injection moulding process. ABS-R is compatible with MakerBot RapidRinse support, which can be quickly and easily washed away using regular tap water to greatly simplify the end-to-end production process. Available in natural, black, and red.

MakerBot ASA

Strong, and designed to withstand high temperatures, MakerBot ASA is moisture resistant. Available in black, white, and red, it has excellent UV resistance, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use in both consumer environments, and industrial applications including transportation and agriculture, where functional parts retain their mechanical properties over extended use.

MakerBot PC-ABS

This engineering-grade material is impact resistant, strong, and able to withstand temperatures up to 108°C. It is used in the short-run production of end use parts, and the development of parts and complete products for consumer markets, much like ABS. This allows design departments to test and iterate on site, to reduce overall development time.

MakerBot PC-ABS FR

Building on the abilities of MakerBot PC-ABS, this flame-retardant variant can be used in the production of parts for use in passenger-carrying vehicles. Its flame-retardant properties mean that it can act as a fire break, reducing the risk of further spread of a blaze. It is designed for use at slightly lower temperatures than regular PC-ABS (104°C), but nonetheless demonstrates high impact resistance that will pay dividends in the production of durable, long-lasting parts.

Kimya ABS EC

High performance ABS EC material is widely used in the automotive and electronics manufacturing industries on account of its resistance to impact, heat, and ageing. Parts produced using ABS EC are durable and long lasting, and electrically conductive on account of the addition of carbon nanotubes. The material is designed for use alongside Stratasys SR-30 support material.

Kimya ABS ESD

While Kimya’s ABS ESD material exhibits many of the physical characteristics of the company’s ABS EC material, including impact resistance, it incorporates additives to help protect against build up electrostatic discharge. This makes it an excellent choice for use in the production of assemblies and housings for sensitive electronic parts. Lightweight, yet rigid, ABS ESD complies with RoHS and REACH standards.

Mitsubishi Durabio

Highly transparent Durabio material is BPA-free and bio-based. It is highly transparent, easy to print, and demonstrates excellent UV resistance, making finished parts suitable for use in outdoor environments. It can be used in the production of both visual and functional prototypes. It is both scratch and impact resistant.

Polymaker PC-PBT

This PC / PBT blend is optimised for the production of parts that must withstand temperature extremes, offering both good heat resistance, and durability at temperatures as low as minus 30°C. Available in black and neutral, it offers good chemical resistance and compatibility with Stratasys SR-30 support material. PolyDissolve S2 material, currently in development, will offer an alternative support option once available.
