Polyjet materials are loaded in liquid form. Because they are only cured once they have been placed, they can form particularly fine layers for exceptionally smooth results.
The print head extrudes fine droplets of liquid polymer onto the print bed, which is immediately cured when a UV flood lamp, attached to the nozzles, crosses the deposited material.
Advanced printers like the Polyjet J-series can work with several different material sources installed at once, allowing you to mix two or more within a single part, or to create several parts simultaneously from the different material reservoirs.
Soluble support materials can be removed using a water jet or by submerging the completed part in a liquid bath at the end of the printing process to leave behind a super-smooth, ultra-realistic finish.
