Stratasys’ Connex1 line returns, with an eye on first-time users
In a show of its commitment to every part of the market, Stratasys has introduced updated models in its Connex1 line, with refreshed takes on the Objet260 and Objet500. Each offers high-end features at a conservative price and are perfect entry-level printers or add-ons to an existing in-house printer range.
Both machines are compatible with 17 materials. Encompassing rigid, flexible, transparent and biological materials, the only limit on what you can build is your creativity. With generous build chambers, extending to 200mm on the z-axis, you can produce large parts in one piece, or multiple parts simultaneously in a single print.
“With full control over opacity and rigidity, you won’t need to compromise, or ask your client to imagine what the finished product will look like. With the Connex1 range, you can show them,” said Laser Lines’ sales director Mark Tyrtania.
Build more versatile parts
Compatibility with soluble support material means it’s possible to build complex parts with overhangs and fine features, while simultaneously reducing the amount of time that must be spent finishing them in post-production.
These printers are precise, too. With a finest layer height of just 16-micron, and accuracy down to 20-micron, these printers produce faithful reproductions of your design intent, time after time. A draft option on the Objet500 intelligently increases the part’s layer height to reduce print times, allowing you to iterate development models more quickly.
“You needn’t pause when material supplies start to run low, either,” says Tyrtania. “Both printers connect to hot-swap material cabinets, that can hold three different materials at a time. It is up to the user whether they use a single material, or combine two or more in a single part. They could even build a mixed tray of parts in one operation, each using different material combinations as required.”
Simplicity and efficiency in one
The materials are loaded in larger capacity cartridges for increased efficiency and to cut down on waste. The printer itself is easy to set up, as it connects to your studio’s internal network using its single Ethernet port. Once up and running, it can be controlled and monitored entirely remotely using the bundled Objet Studio software.
