The New FORTUS 450mc has Arrived: UK First for Laser Lines

It’s one of the fastest 3D printers in the world and, here at Laser Lines, we’ve got the first one in the UK!

Laser Lines, the UK’s biggest distributer of 3D printers, has just taken delivery of the new Fortus 450mc – the latest new 3D printing system from Stratasys to enhance their showroom portfolio.

The Fortus 450mc can manufacture parts 20 per cent faster than its predecessor, The Fortus 400mc, and it’s proving a big draw for our customers looking for a 3D printer that can create mid-sized parts in a wide range of durable and robust plastics.

The Fortus 450mc is a reliable and robust workhorse. We’re the first company in the UK to get hold of one, because we want to have the latest demonstration machines to showcase to our customers. Right now I think most people would buy this over the Fortus 400. It has an easy-to-use, full-colour touch screen interface, a larger build envelope and a user experience second-to-none, in terms of speed and accuracy.

The feedback from our engineers was that the part quality would be better and already we are producing some benchmark parts with better feature details, improved side wall quality and a really crisp finish, especially for builds with complex geometry.Mark Tyrtania, Laser Lines Sales Director

With the largest build envelope at 406 x 355 x 406mm, the Fortus 450mc is also stretching the boundaries of what is possible with rapid manufacturing. A higher oven temperature of 482°F, the highest of all Stratasys systems, means the printer can enable high performance materials such as ULTEM™ 1010 filament. While improved even temperature distribution in the build chamber, means parts can be created with less distortion for a more reliable finish.

Add in the fact it is compatible with all nine materials from Stratasys’ thermoplastics range, offered in three bundles – Standard (ABS-M30, ABS-M30i, ABS-ESD7, ASA); Engineering (PC, PC-ISO, Nylon 12); High Performance (ULTEM™ 9085 filament and ULTEM™ 1010 filament) – and you’ve got an impressive piece of kit.

The Fortus 450mc is opening the door to many new users of 3D printing because it suits a variety of demanding applications in some of the most advanced FDM thermoplastics including materials certified to withstand extreme temperatures, mechanical stress and chemical exposure.

We have already put it to work for customer demonstrations, producing benchmark parts and in our 3D Printing Bureau too, building jigs and fixtures, electronics, consumer housing, customised medical tools as well as producing low volume end-use parts. We’re over the moon to have the first one in our showroom for all to come and see.

If you would like to see the new Fortus 450mc in action or schedule a sample part, contact Laser Lines on 01295 672599.
