This upgraded version of the Makerbot Method can print parts using nylon carbon fibre in addition to the standard Method materials. For anyone that needs to produce strong, accurate parts, carbon fibre can work very well indeed. Its strength and light-weight properties make it a useful alternative to metal for some applications, such as jigs and fixtures, manufacturing tools and some end-use production components. This industrial-grade machine has a heated chamber for stronger parts, offers excellent dimensional accuracy of ± 0.2mm and is suitable for an office environment. Automated calibration, material handling and build plate levelling make it very easy to use.
The secret of the Makerbot Method Carbon Fiber’s success is the new Model 1c Composite Extruder. To deal with the extra demands placed on it by the strong carbon fibre material, it features metal drive gears, a metal filament switch and an interchangeable, hardened steel nozzle. If you already own a Makerbot Method or Makerbot Method X machine, you can buy the extruder separately to upgrade your machine to print carbon fibre filament.
All Makerbot machines work with the free Makerbot Print software. This streamlines your print preparation by importing native CAD files from most of the popular CAD programs. You can see an animated preview of the path the machine will take and check everything looks as you expect it to, with the software automatically arranging objects across the build plates.
