Medical and dental materials

Innovative materials for medical and dental

  • Materials with certified biocompatibility and accurate detailing.
  • Combine materials for mixed applications.
  • Suitable for up to 30 days’ skin contact.

Efficient, cost-effective modelling

The Polyjet range of medical and dental 3D printing materials is designed to make life easier for researchers, teachers and practitioners. Fast, accurate modelling allows for highly accurate replication and detailing using certified biocompatible materials. These are suitable for up to 30 days of skin contact and 24 hours of mucosal membrane contact. In addition, two materials – MED610 and MED620 – are suitable for up to 24 hours of contact with skin and bone.

These ranges are available as:

The VeroDent range

  • VeroDent (MED670)
  • VeroDentPlus (MED690)
  • VeroGlaze (MED620)
  • Biocompatible Clear (MED610)

This range features natural colours and characteristics that allow for accurate and realistic dental modelling, including rigid models and detailed designs. With excellent print accuracy down to 16-micron layers, this range of materials deliver faster, more precise modelling for training, education and dental practice.

The Matrix range

  • TissueMatrix (MED310)
  • BoneMatrix (RGD516)
  • GelMatrix (FLG110)

This specialist materials range is specifically designed to mimic the particular qualities of tissue and bone. With a finished structure that is far more realistic than previous materials allowed, this range ups the game for medical research and device development. GelMatrix is used in conjunction with other materials, rather than on its own to produce lifelike blood vessel models.

Digital ABS Plus Biocompatible

  • MED515+DABS, IV
  • MED531DABS, IV

Used for prototyping medical devices and components, Digital ABS Plus Biocompatible offers rigidity coupled with thinness of material, and is certified for modelling parts that will be tested against skin or mucose membrane.

Flexible Clear Biocompatible

  • MED625FLX

This material significantly reduces the time taken for patient procedures such as bracket installation. This in turn means less time for a dental patient in the chair, and less discomfort during the process. Flexible Clear makes these types of procedures much more efficient and straightforward.

Hearing Aid

  • Rose and clear

Hearing Aid materials are used to rapidly manufacture accurate hearing aid moulds with smooth, comfortable surfaces. The hearing aid materials are available in two colours, clear and rose clear, both of which have medical certification.

In addition, Vero ContactClear (CTT610) offers biocompatible rigid 3D printing, which is ideal for a number of medical models and approved for a variety of uses.

Recreate specific clinical needs

Traditionally, modelling has not been accurate enough to replicate clinical needs in the way medical and dental professionals need. This range of Polyjet materials, together with the latest in 3D printing technology, allows those working in clinical environments to completely recreate models that can imitate human skin, bone and tissue. This helps clinical researchers, trainers and project teams to work more precisely and more effectively.

Medical materials in action

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham was outsourcing 3D printing after it discovered this was a much better way to create life-like models for its maxillofacial surgical department. It has now brought all its 3D printing in house, using it for the rapid prototyping of patient-specific cutting guides and pre-surgical planning models.

“The ability to produce lifelike medical models in-house on our Stratasys 3D printer translates to up to £20,000 per surgery in savings, with a reduction in surgical planning time of 93 percent,” said Stefan Edmondson, Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist at the hospital.
